We are very proud to say that our deconstruction was featured in an article by the Los Gatos Weekly Times entitled "Demolishing a house - one brick at a time" by Grant Shellen, June 8, 2005. Please click the link below to read all about this exciting work!

Marcan Enterprise is making news with deconstruction!

Read the latest on deconstruction as part of the green building movement!
Deconstruction is the hottest new trend in the green building movement and Marcan Enterprise Inc. is at the forefront of this exciting new work. We specialize in deconstruction and have been certified by The ReUse People as a Deconstruction Contractor.

With deconstruction, houses and fixtures can be carefully taken apart, and salvaged. Kitchen cabinets, bath fixtures, furnaces, doors, windows, carpet, water heaters, light fixtures, garage doors, lumber, framing can all be carefully and efficiently removed. Then we bring them to The ReUse People where they are salvaged for other building projects both here are abroad.

The great news is that tax donation of the salvaged materials can offset, or is usually even much greater than the cost of the deconstruction itself. Deconstruction takes a few extra days, but usually pays for itself. Plus the materials are put to good use, and kept out of landfills, so it's an excellent, green alternative - something that makes us all feel good.

Here's an example. We deconstructed an entire house in San Mateo County in 2006 at a cost of $52,000. The owners realized a $159,000 tax donation!

Here is an example of a kitchen that is being deconstructed. All the cabinets will be reused in other settings, rather then crushed and hauled to the landfill. The carpet padding is often used to wrap cabinetry safely for delivery, then the padding can be taken to a recycle center.

This photo shows salvaged and cleaned lumber framing, plus a water heater and bathtub. All these items will be reused in other settings, rather than dumped in the landfill. Deconstruction is a $mart, environmentally conscious choice for your next remodeling project!
We work with The ReUse People to recycle the materials from the deconstruction. Visit their website at www.thereusepeople.org to learn more about this exciting new alternative.

We also pride ourselves striving to meet and exceed the recycling and salvage standards for each city in the SF Bay Area. Other companies may bring in large tractors and tear down a house claiming the contents are recycled. In reality all the contents are crushed together, cabinets, doors, windows, framing, etc. and taken to a landfill to be sorted. Anything reuseable is taken out of the dumped contents. But the sad part is all those beautiful fixtures are lost, when they could have been put to good use in another setting.

The benefits of deconstruction for your project are:
1. A large tax donation
2. Reducing the waste stream into our landfills
3. Re-using the materials - giving them a second life!
4. The ReUse People network with others looking for exactly what you have!

Consider deconstruction as a valuable, $mart, environmentally friendly alternative. Your grandchildren will thank you for it!

Isn't it better to know these beautiful fixtures with lots of usefulness left were reused rather than dumped as waste in the landfill? This owner made a $mart choice!

Thanks to this owner's $mart saavy, these doors and chandelier found a new home! Doors, windows, and light fixtures are just another of the many items that can be reused with deconstruction rather than sadly sitting in a landfill.
